Couples Caravans WA

If you are touring as two, you will want a permanent bed you do not have to make up each night, a bathroom you do not have to share with a caravan park, and a van short enough to reverse into a bay without a spotter. We stock three caravans built around exactly that, at our Rockingham showroom.

Eagle Warrior 160CX compact ensuite couples caravan

Eagle Warrior 160CX Compact Ensuite Caravan

The 160CX is the shorter of the two Eagles, with an island queen bed, a café dinette and a full ensuite in a 16 foot body. It carries two 95 litre water tanks and a 135 litre grey water tank, which is the part that matters once you are past Kalbarri and the taps get further apart. Heavy duty independent off-road suspension, a McHitch coupling and checkerplate protection come standard, along with 200 watts of solar and three 100 amp deep cycle batteries.

Eagle Warrior 190CX Ensuite Touring Caravan

At 19 feet, the 190CX gives you a larger rear ensuite and a proper walk-around queen bed with an adjustable mattress slide. Where it differs most from the 160CX is the power system, with three 100 amp lithium batteries, a 3,000 watt inverter and charger, and 400 watts of solar. If you free camp for a week at a time rather than a night at a time, that is the difference you will notice.

Barefoot Classic lightweight couples caravan

Barefoot Classic Lightweight Caravan

The Barefoot Classic is the lightest van we sell for two people, at 960 kg tare. The curved fibreglass shell sits on a galvanised chassis, and the interior fits a kitchen, a bathroom and a U-shaped lounge that converts to a 6 ft bed into a 12 foot body. Its 30-litre freshwater tank is small, so it suits coastal and south west touring where you are refilling regularly rather than long remote runs.

How Caravan Weight Affects Couples Touring in WA

Western Australia punishes a poorly matched rig harder than most states, because the distances between towns in the Mid West and Pilbara mean you carry more water, more fuel and more spares than you would on the east coast. Payload, which is the gap between Tare and ATM, is what you have to play with once the tanks are full. Our caravan weight guide explains ATM, GTM and Tare in full. Salt air along the coast and limestone gravel on station tracks are the other two factors worth checking on, since both affect what sealing, suspension and underbody protection you will want.

We also service and repair what we sell, so if something needs attention after your first long trip you will not be chasing an interstate agent. Our caravan repair and service workshop is on the same site in Rockingham.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size caravan is best for a couple touring WA?

Most couples buying from us land between 12 and 19 feet, and the deciding factor is usually whether you want an internal ensuite. A full ensuite generally needs about 16 feet or more of body length to fit alongside a queen bed and a kitchen, which is why the 160CX is the shortest ensuite van in our range. If you are happy with park amenities, a 12-foot van tows and parks far more easily.

Do couples caravans hold their value better than family vans?

Two-berth vans with a queen bed and an ensuite tend to sell quickly on the WA second-hand market, because the retiring couple buyer is the largest single group of caravan buyers in the state. Resale still depends on condition, service history and whether the van has been kept sealed and dry, rather than on layout alone. If you are selling one, we take vans on consignment from our Rockingham yard.

Can I add solar or lithium to a couple’s caravan after I buy it?

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs through our workshop. The 190CX already ships with lithium batteries and an inverter, while older or lighter vans are often better upgraded gradually, starting with solar capacity and a suitable charger before the battery bank is replaced. We will quote on the van in front of us rather than a package price, because roof space and existing wiring vary a lot.

What should I check on a used couples caravan before buying?

Look for signs of water ingress around windows, hatches and the front seam, check the compliance plate matches the ATM you have been quoted, and ask for service records on the wheel bearings and brakes. Delamination and soft floors are expensive to put right and are not always visible on a walk-through, so a pre-purchase inspection by a licensed workshop is worth the fee on any van you are serious about.
